The Power of Kindness
Written by Maria Sauda
Hi divas, dearest readers of GirlBlogZone, I haven’t written in many months and I hope you can forgive my absence. So much has been going on in the world and in my personal life, my mental health was really affected and I couldn’t find any inspiration to write! But lately I’ve been thinking about how important kindness is, and I hope this post will leave you inspired and hopeful.

We are in a difficult time in society, it’s easy to lose our manners in the face of so much corruption and injustice, it’s very demoralizing. The news makes us think we can’t do anything, but I think one thing that is important is not losing your kindness in the chaos. Kindness can change someone’s day with just a small gesture and maybe even change their whole personality! If we could make kindness the majority, as a society we can accomplish much more.
Of course we can’t always be kind, we are only human, and kindness is also something that you have to learn and practice. There have been several times where someone else’s kindness has impacted me so much that it made me want to change how I am, and even just small gestures that can change everything. Here are some examples:
One time I was on a travel bus and I accidentally sat in a lady’s seat, I apologized and I was about to move, but the lady smile and said to me “You can stay there don’t worry about it, stay happy!”, this just totally sparked joy in my heart and it made me realize how in mundane interactions, adding some genuineness and sunshine to your replies can brighten someone’s day!!
Another example, one time I was with one of my dear friends when she saw a man begging outside of a cafe. She approached him and asked “Have you had breakfast today?” The man replied “No”. She then went inside and got him breakfast. This is inspired me a lot, to the point where now it is one of my spiritual beliefs that we are sent people to take care of in our own capacity. We live in a world where everyone is expected to fend for themselves, but if we change our mindset to an outwards one of helping others, it changes our whole personality, we think of ourselves less and we help others more.
My dear friend Ruth also inspires me, she is always ready to help other girls. If she sees that a girl might be in trouble she stops and watches over her, if a girl needs help with something like needing to make a phone call or ask for information she always helps with a sweet demeanor. She’s awesome for this, it’s inspired me to be more attentive and sweet to girls and women who need help. Girlhood is important always but especially in these times!
Lastly, dogs always inspire me. They are kind and innocent, infinitely sweet and curious to make friends. Not many can brighten your day like a pure kind puppy can, so who else is better to be inspired by?

I have a book called “Wise Dogs” and it shows the good qualities we can learn from dogs. All of it stems from love, kindness comes from a place of seeing other people and loving them. They inspire love in my heart every day with their sweet demeanor.

All of these things have helped me and inspired me to practice kindness more, and I think it is something everyone can embody and become. The more I open my heart to the beauty and joy in the world the more value I see in smiling at others, saying good morning to others, offering help, giving a compliment, making people feel seen. I’ve grown in love because of all the others who have given love to others, because every time it has really stuck with me.

I hope, dear reader, that you will also feel inspired to take after those who have shown kindness to you and pass it along. Another important thing I want to mention, is that a big part of kindness is being understanding of others, you never know what someone could be going through that makes them reply in a rude way, and maybe a smile or a polite good morning can change their day for the better. It wont change the whole world in a day, but these moments build up and matter more than we think
